PREPARATION & TRAINING
We recommend that participants who are not regular runners and those who have not undergone a recent medical check-up, particularly older participants, seek a medical check-up before taking part in the RUN THE COURSE event.
Please ensure you are well hydrated prior to taking on the run/walk and that you are capable of finishing the event in a safe manner.
Subject to those restrictions in force at the time.
COSTS (Online/On the Day)
CAN I WALK?
Yes you can, and prams are welcome also. RUN THE COURSE is suitable for all levels of fitness. You can walk or run, whatever you feel comfortable with. Although events are timed, there is no time limit.
WHAT CAN I BRING?
Water bottles! Although there will be a water station at the finish line, extra water is recommended,
especially in the hotter weather.
CAN I BRING MY PET?
Sadly no, we kindly ask that dogs or any other pets please be left at home as they will not be permitted
WHAT ABOUT MY BIKE?
For the safety of others, we also ask that all bikes & scooters are NOT brought onto the course
IS FIRST AID AVAILABLE?
As safety is the priority at the RUN THE COURSE event, we will ensure that First Aid personnel will be present at all times. And as hydration will be a big factor when it comes to safety we will also be placing a drinks station at the finish line (Hole 18)
WHAT HAPPENS IN EXTREME HEAT?
Please note that in the event of excessive heat, safety measures will be taken in accordance with the guidelines of Sports Medicine Australia to ensure the safety of all participants. If the BOM website forecast on 13 March at 5.00 pm is +40°C, the course will be closed and the run postponed
RUN THE COURSE is a completely unique event, a fun run being held on a golf course
We start on the first tee and from there proceed to run/walk down the fairways following the order of the course layout and finishing on the 18th hole. The course is undulating for the first 9 holes and flat for the bottom 9. In total, we are looking at:
21.1 km & 3 laps of the course for the Half Marathon,
7.5 km for the 18 Hole Course,
3.5 km for the 9 Hole Course (easy and flat).
The golf course is in a beautiful bush land setting surrounded by native flora and fauna, with an abundance of wildlife to view as you run/walk along. The event will have a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere, where anyone can participate, from the seasoned athlete to first time walkers/runners.
